Key Features
The MoogerFooger Software MF-105S MuRF is a plug-in recreation of the classic Multiple Resonant Filter Array hardware pedal. The MF-105S MuRF is designed to provide vibrant animation of incoming sounds, combining a resonant filter bank with a pattern generator and skewing envelope for a truly unique and engaging audio experience.
The MF-105S is a re-invention of Moog Music's classic MF-105, originally introduced in 2004. Designed by Bob Moog and his engineering team, the MF-105S retains the core functionality of its predecessor, including an eight-band array of resonant filters that can be voiced for bass or mid-frequency response, and a pre-programmed animation module for generating sequences of envelopes that modulate the levels of the eight filters. These features allow you to process, modulate, and play with inputs from a wide range of audio sources, such as guitars, vocals, synthesizers, and more.
In addition to its classic design, the MF-105S offers several enhancements tailored for today's digital creators. With CV interconnectivity, stereo functionality, and an extended feature set, the MF-105S integrates seamlessly into your existing setup.

The MoogerFooger MF-105S MuRF features a versatile array of eight filters that can be easily adjusted to enhance your sound, whether you're working with bass or mid-frequency audio inputs. By using the front panel's FREQ slide switch, you can effortlessly configure the filters to suit your specific needs.
For bass voicing, the lowest filter acts as a lowpass filter with a cutoff frequency of 110 Hz, ensuring that your bass sounds maintain their rich, low-frequency presence. The other seven filters in the BASS voicing function as resonant filters, with center frequencies at 160, 240, 350, 525, 775, 1200, and 1800 Hz. When it comes to mid-frequency voicing, all eight filters act as resonant filters, with center frequencies at 200, 300, 450, 675, 1000, 1500, 2200, and 3400 Hz. This setting is perfect for processing sounds with dense mid-frequency harmonics, such as guitars, vocals, or synthesizer pad sounds.
Each filter is equipped with a slider to control its gain, allowing you to fine-tune the output of each filter. While this may resemble the functionality of a graphic equalizer, the MuRF's filters offer unique characteristics that set them apart. These filters not only boost the signal at their center frequencies but also add warm analog resonances at pleasing intervals throughout the frequency spectrum. Additionally, the filters are tuned in a way that they don't overlap, further distinguishing them from traditional graphic equalizers.
Bringing the flexibility of the hardware to the digital world, the MF-105S includes virtual CV controls to control parameters with expression pedals, MIDI or other MoogerFooger CV functions! Offering LFO rate controls, LFO amount, Envelope and Mix controls, you can dynamically alter the response of your filtering inside MuRF with external parameters and controls. Functioning in a bipolar manner, the strength of the selected CV control can increase and decrease in modulation, enabling creative ways to add movement to the texture of your recordings.
The MoogerFooger MF-105S offers several new functions to enhance your audio experience, providing greater control and versatility for your sound. First, the MF-105S introduces a MODE feature that enables you to route the 8 MuRF filters to the Left and Right channels in alternating fashion, creating immersive stereo effects just like in the original MF-105.
Another addition to the MF-105S is the ENVELOPE PEAKS function, which provides two distinct settings for shaping your sound. The SHARP setting preserves the original envelope shapes of the MF-105, while the PRONOUNCED setting adds a brief hold phase after the envelope attack, making the peaks more pronounced and noticeable.
Lastly, the ENVELOPE MODE feature offers two options for further customization of your sound. The ORIGINAL setting maintains the classic MF-105 envelope shapes, while the ALTERNATE setting introduces a new selection of envelopes, opening up a world of fresh possibilities for the MuRF's sonic capabilities.
