Key Features
The Roland Cloud SH-2 Virtual Instrument is a faithful replica of the classic SH-2 synthesizer in plug-in format for your DAW. Created during a time of transition for synthesizers, the unique monophonic design of the SH-2 can be heard on all of your favourite records from the past and to this day is still utilised to create the most bone-rattling synth bass sounds of all time. Using innovative ACB (analog circuit behaviour) component level replication, the SH-2 Virtual Instrument produces an authentic sonic reproduction of the original, delivering raw, vintage tones with the dual VCO's plus sub-oscillator configuration to create fat bass sounds, edgy leads and wild effects that are indistinguishable from the original. The meticulous recreation extends to the behaviour of the individual analog circuits and their interactions with each other to create the charm and quirks of the original design in a plug-in format.
The SH-2 Virtual Instrument is the perfect companion for live musicians and studio engineers with the ability to quickly recall 64 user presets on the fly with a host of effects and newly added features such as two ADSR envelopes, an expanded VCO range for ultra-deep sub-bass and a tempo-syncing arpeggiator. Quickly and accurately have access to the immaculate sounds of the SH-2 for your studio sessions, without the need for time-consuming setups that stifle your creativity. Not only that, but the SH-2 Virtual Instrument supports Roland Plug-out systems for a range of hardware integration, allowing you to take the classic sounds of the SH-2 with you wherever you go, without needing a computer.

The combination of two VCO's and sub-oscillator (essentially making three VCO's) provides the SH-2 with the ability to create extremely fat and warm vintage bass sounds. Taking care of the low-end, the SH-2 can be used to double up on guitar melodies to add additional depth and movement to your top lines, create single-note bass notes lines that shake the room or layer up your chord fundamentals to create a huge wall of sound that fills the full spectrum. Since its launch, the SH-2 has been a favourite among synth aficionados to produce the most earth-shaking bass sounds of all time!
Using innovative ACB technology, the SH-2 Virtual Instrument accurately models the original hardware unit to capture every fine detail, including the interactions that happen between individual circuits when manipulated in certain ways. These interactions that only occur in analog circuitry have been meticulously designed and implemented and can be seen in subtle changes in the tonality of your sound when parameters unrelated to the actual tone are adjusted. The SH-2 Virtual Instrument aims to capture the charm and nuance of the analog circuitry that is revered by so many.
Every nuance and recognisable sound is present, from the self-oscillating VCF, the attack and decay characteristics of the steep envelope, the unique harmonic makeup and pitch wavering can all be heard to create the infamous sound of the late '70s and early '80s. There are even some new features that were not available on the original to fit with modern workflow and demands, such as the VCO range is expandable to 64' for ultra-deep bass, two ADSR envelopes, modern effects: reverb, tempo-syncing delay, and bit-crusher, auto-bend with support for reverse actions and a tempo-syncing arpeggiator.
The SH-2 Virtual Instrument also supports Plug-out format for extended operation with Roland hardware synths such as the System-8 or System-1. This seamless integration opens up a whole new world of available options and potential with your SH-2 Virtual Instrument. Transfer sounds back and forth between the hardware and the software to carry your sounds with you anywhere you go and update your presets, get hands-on and interact with your SH-2 as an instrument to use faders and sliders for automating and editing on the fly with real physical controls that don't require a computer.
