Key Features
The SPL Crescendo is an 8-channel microphone preamplifier with transparent sound, massive dynamic range, and ultra-low distortion. It's designed to capture even the finest details in any recording, all while taking up only 3U of 19” rack space. To maintain precise craftsmanship, SPL has outfitted the Crescendo with differential amplifiers made of perfectly matched transistor pairs and thermal coupling to deliver incredibly low thermal distortion.
The preamp circuitry's output stage also operates on a 6mA dormant current, ensuring Class-A operation. And to avoid electrical interference and prevent power noise from bleeding into the range of the preamps, a specially selected Toroidal transformer power supply is shielded with custom-fabricated sheeting integrated into the Crescendo’s housing.
Product Ref: 258849
Crescendo has 8 preamp channels that can be independently controlled. It comes with all the usual features of modern studio preamps like polarity reverse, a 20 dB pad for louder signals, gain control, 48v phantom power, and a VU meter for each channel. The preamp offers flexibility for a wide range of microphones with varying output levels, because each channel's microphone gain can be adjusted from 18 to 70dB, accommodating even low-output ribbon microphones.
Crescendo's preamps are designed with SPL's unique 120V technology, utilizing high-voltage SUPRA op-amps. This technology grants Crescendo with exceptional operating headroom, preventing the preamps from being overloaded. Plus the preamp circuit can amplify rapid transients thanks to its potential internal operating voltage of approximately +/- 60 volts.
Any electrical items in your order may have been designed to work with a 240V circuit, using a United Kingdom G type plug connection or a 220V circuit, using an EU plug connection. An adapter or transformer may be required for these items to work properly and safely in your country. Some items work with a range of voltages, or have a switchable voltage control built in.
