The SSL X-Saturator provides you with a small array of essential tools which help you sculpt the response of your saturation to fit in with any mix or instrument in your session. Designed with the Drive control as the largest dial, this is where your eye is immediately drawn to and does exactly what you'd expect, increasing the amount of saturation in your signal. It's the augmented dials which make X-Saturator so special.
A very important aspect when saturating, X-Saturator includes input and output gain dials to get the perfect level in and out of the plug-in to avoid unwanted clipping. Both include Peak Hold and RMS metering for accurate monitoring of your signal levels. For the creative aspect and tonal shaping aspects of X-Saturator, you'll not be left wanting.
Shaping the timbre of your saturation, the Harmonics control lets you distinctly morph between 2nd and 3rd-order harmonics or blend between the both. This drastically changes the character of your effect and shifts from '50s-style valve overdrive to outright '70s-style transistor distortion.
Controlling the Depth in X-Sturator controls the amplitude of the harmonics in your signal. Perfect for when you want to create a heavy, distortion-like saturation but bring the intensity down in your signal to avoid excessive saturation! The Shape control is a unique parameter which lets you sculpt the frequency response and edginess of your saturation. At the full percentage of +50, Shape will add overtones in the high frequencies for a more sharp tonality whereas at -50% the Shape control reduces the high frequencies for a more rounded and smooth tone.
