Sonicware bring you the Smpltrek, a comprehensive and user friendly sampler that opens up the world of digital music production to everyone. The Smpltrek is designed to make sampling quick and easy, with a built in microphone you can record vocals or samples wherever you go. You can also connect an external microphone, a USB microphone or any instrument to the sampler, record it and edit it at will. The Smpltrek can even sample with effects applied, you could apply distortion or compression to instruments and vocals. Samples can be auto sliced and assigned to pads, you can effortlessly adjust the key and tempo and edit them manually in the waveform display section. You can resample sequenced phases for ultimate chopping and layering of your sounds.
Sequencing your samples and creating full tracks is incredibly easy with the Smpltrek. Upon turning on the Smpltrek you can select a new project or a previously saved project, and enter the sequencer. The Smpltrek sequencer consists of 16 "scenes" you can create patterns with your sounds in, each scene has ten audio sequencing tracks and an additional three global tracks allow you to record sounds over the entire track timeline. The ten audio tracks can be assigned as sample looping, MIDI, single-shot, one drum track and instrument tracks; the instrument tracks act as a piano roll for any instrument you assign to them. The global tracks can record multiple takes, and you can splice them together to edit out mistakes.
An OLED display provides simple and informative visual information and the Smpltrek features parameter control knobs, and an array of colourful backlit buttons and pads. The handheld gaming console style directional pad and two buttons allow for ease of browsing through options and menus with their ergonomic and familiar feel, while the control buttons are situated in the centre of the Smpltrek for distinction. 16 multiple buttons give you the physical ability to quickly switch between the scenes in the sampler and 15 LED velocity sensitive pads function as a keyboard or drum pads. Aswell as a 3.5mm headphone jack, the Smpltrek features a suitable built in speaker allows you to monitor your music without headphones or additional speakers.
To get you started, the Smpltrek comes equipped with over 500 high quality samples that you can utilise straight away. Smpltrek uses WAV format so you can be assured that the included samples and your own sounds will retain their high quality in your finished tracks. To load your own samples you'll need an SD card. which slots into the side of the device. Any samples you record onto the Smpltrek will be saved to the SD card. 36 types of DSP effects are available with the Smpltrek, they can be used as insert, send and master FX.
The Smpltrek has extremely versatile connection abilities. The USB connection allows you to stream directly to your phone, allowing you to play your music live on your social media accounts. You can livestream and record your voice and performance through the SmplTrek all at the same time. Inputs and outputs of the SmplTrek are balanced 1/4 inch L+R TRS. You can connect instruments or microphones to it via the inputs and the Smpltrek can output via the analog TRS or digitally via USB. You can also connect the Smpltrek to other hardware via 5-pin DiN MIDI connections to synchronize tempo. The 5-pin DiN MIDI out allows you to control other hardware and you can control software via USB MIDI. Powered by either an included DC12V output AC adapter or six AA batteries, the Smpltrek is ultra-portable.
