Precision of a static EQ with multi-band flexibility
In the studio, having a versatile collection of tools is key in making quick and accurate decisions that get the best from your projects. Providing you with the best of both worlds, Oxford Dynamic EQ offers the precision parametric EQ functionality of a static EQ with the multi-band responsiveness of a dynamics processor - without the unwanted artefacts or compression.
With this in mind, what can the dynamic EQ do that a traditional EQ can't? Oxford Dynamic EQ allows you to remove undesired frequencies dynamically without altering the character, tone and integrity of the original audio. Ideal for both mixing individual instruments, stereo busses or mastering applications, you can dynamically shape boomy frequencies, harsh peaks or even alter the relationship between two instruments without adjusting volume levels when using side-chaining.
Five overlapping bands
Designed to avoid the pitfalls of other typical multi-band compressors, the Oxford Dynamic EQ employs five fluid overlapping bands. Typically, multi-band compressors utilise rigid crossovers that divide the frequency response, resulting in unwanted compression artefacts and distortion characteristics that alter the character and tonality of your audio. The Oxford Dynamic EQ's overlapping bands ensure that the integrity of your original sound is maintained, preserving the musicality and timbre.
Transient detection
Different sound sources will often have unique transient information. This can mean that using a typical EQ different audio tracks will respond quicker or slower depending on the audio envelope. For this reason, the Oxford Dynamic EQ can be engaged via the onboard Onset Detection setting. Onset Detection lets you set the EQ processing to be triggered by the transient response of your audio track. Ideal when working with percussive instruments such as drums, Dynamic EQ offers a tremendous amount of control over the response of your instrument. Smooth harsh transient peaks to sit snare drums in your mix to avoid them sounding too 'pokey' or even control vocal sibilance for a smooth performance.
The ultimate tonal shaping tool
Going above and beyond, Sonnox Oxford Dynamic EQ offers multiple ways to define the EQ processing targets. Spanning virtually every instrument that can be thrown at it, the Dynamic EQ lets you select stereo, mono or mid-side operation per band as well as frequency-specific Onset Detection. Coupled with this, Dynamic EQ offers both downward and upward expansions as well as individually adjustable side-chain filters. Working together, the frequency-specific Onset Detection and independent side-chain input filters allow you to set thresholds based on incoming signals at specific frequency ranges to create the cleanest dynamic EQ adjustment possible.
Complicated processes made easy
Although an extremely powerful and customisable plug-in, the Oxford Dynamic EQ is presented in an intuitive and streamlined interface to dial in tones quickly. Musically-labelled terms and a clear graphical interface make it easy to achieve the sounds you need whether you're a seasoned pro or a less-experienced producer.
