Besson is the brand name most commonly associated with brass band communities. From the first cornet made by Gustave-Auguste Besson, a scientist who specialised in acoustic science, Besson instruments have manufactured and modified by master craftsmen, to achieve the unique yet distinctive Besson tonal characteristics, which are heard around the world today.
New Standard Range
The BE110 is part of the New Standard Besson range, which have been designed to provide the professional quality of Besson to the student market, through reliable and hard wearing instruments, with the desired Besson high quality tone. At an affordable price point, the New standard series has become popular among teachers, regularly been bought for training bands and for educational authorities.
Yellow Brass Bell
Yellow Brass is commonly used as the base metal for most student brass instruments. A standard mix of 70 percent copper and 30 percent zinc helps to provide a focused sound with a solid core, produced with very little resistance. This enables the performer to produce a high quality weighted tone, while encouraging good performance practice and technical development.
Design
The New Standard Bb Trumpet has been designed to specifically suit entry level players. Featuring a leadpipe design which makes it easier to blow, while keeping the same traditional Besson sound. The tuning of the trumpet has also been developed to ensure it is suitable for the anticipated player. To further enhance the model, Besson has made the space around the valve block slightly smaller than normal to allow correct and comfortable hand positions for smaller hands.
