Since 1825 Buffet has developed around the recognition of its instrument manufacture. The guarantee of such quality is the charm to a player's heart and as all products are made in either France or Germany workshops this quality is continuously reliable. All workers start as apprentices to learn everything they need to from highly skilled craftsmen, however the most important skills are dedication, passion and patience. Since birth almost every Buffet instrument has been continuously tested and developed. Listening to its players needs, Buffet has adapted the instruments to cope with the period in time.

Buffet Prodige

Buffet has developed the Prodige student clarinet to make it more affordable for those on a budget. Part of this task was to keep the same professional values of the instrument, while decreasing the price. Now students and beginners are able to develop correct technique and musicianship from the beginning of their practical experience. Buffet Prodige’s best qualities are its tone, reliability and ergonomics. The acoustics of the instrument use skills like molding and drilling, such techniques are now all carried out in either France or Germany workshops – ensuring consistent products! The clarinets new bore design was inspired by the popular E13 model. This change has enhanced the projection of the sound and made the clarinet much easier to play. Intervals between notes are now much more balanced. To further optimise the projection of this clarinet, Buffet has also developed the bell design.

Co-Polymeric ABS Body

Unlike other models, the Prodige features a co-polymeric ABS body, which has been buffed to make it look and feel just like grenadilla wood. ABS makes the instrument easy to control and blow and is lightweight as well as easy to clean. This makes it ideal for student players.

Keys and Mechanisms

The Buffet Prodige Clarinet has a simple design featuring the standard 17 keys and 6 rings. All keywork is silver plated, which is long lasting and ergonomic - allowing ease of play for student players. This combined with an adjustable thumb rest, makes the Prodige very nice to play. All tone holes have been undercut and combined with leather pads, creating a great seal with better intonation and tonal character. The bell has been developed to optimise projection.
