Unique stick composition
The Marquise Custom Series bows feature unidirectional carbon fibres, running continuously from end-to-end on either side of the shaft. This break-through technology provides the player with incredible resonant feedback. You can feel every nuanced detail of your playing vibrate through your fingertips, giving you an undeviating connection to your performance.
In order to achieve a more organic sound and playability, the stick has been suffused with a Natural Acoustic Core - a combination of organic plant fibres which enriches the pure tone of the carbon fibre shaft with a more sophisticated and natural timbre.
Global Bow Design
The CodaBow GlobalBow designation lets you know that this bow contains no materials derived from monitored, regulated, or endangered species of plant or animal. This offers you peace of mind, knowing that your bow has been produced in an environmentally sustainable manner. If you're a travelling musician, passing through international customs with no issues will also come as a big advantage.
Xebony is a sustainable alternative to the endangered ebony hardwood commonly used in professional-grade instruments and bows. A blend of natural resin and fibres, Xebony boasts a rich lustre and natural grain which is impressing professional musicians and archetiers alike. Stronger and more durable than natural ebony, Xebony can offer you a premium frog material whilst preserving endangered natural resources.
The history of CodaBow
In 1958, material scientist Stan Prosen was undertaking tests on a newly developed composite material, carbon fibre. Whilst noting the remarkable strength and durability of this emergent material, Prosen inadvertently dropped a test ring on the floor - where the impact produced a clear, sustained note - and became deeply interested in the acoustic properties of this futuristic fibre, planting the first seed of an idea that would eventually become CodaBow.
Working with master archetier Roger Zabinski and aerospace engineer turned structural designer Jeff Van Fossen, Stan began to produce bows using this uniquely lightweight yet strong material. Their combined skillsets allowed them to create revolutionary bows with unmatched consistency. Now, CodaBows can be found in some of the top orchestras in the world, where they are sought out for their incredibly supple playability and rich tonal quality.
