It's unusual to get a hand varnished instrument in this price range. But GEWA has done it! The Ideale VC2 cello has a red-brown natural resin varnish, and once combined with the full ebony fittings, you will realise how good this cello looks.



To ensure you get the best possible start, GEWA has made this outfit to include everything you need. On the cello, you will find Larsen Aurora strings and a Wittner fine-tuning tailpiece so you can start to learn the basics of tuning. The Ideale cello also includes a transportation bag, rosin, and a Bulletwood bow with natural hair.

Engineered to perfection

The Gewa Ideale VC2 cello is the ideal instrument for ambitious beginners. By using the historic combination of a solid European Maple body with a solid European Spruce top, the VC2 cello produces a focused, powerful sound with plenty of body. And thanks to these European tonewoods, the instrument's tone will continue to improve over time.

Unlike other cellos, the Ideale is CNC-machined compared to hand-carved. Not only does this enable GEWA to keep the cost down, but it also ensures that every single cello is made to the highest standards. This is especially important for schools and music centres.

Similar to more expensive cellos, the Ideale includes full ebony fittings. Not only do these look great, but they're also hardwearing compared to cheaper woods. For the perfect finish, the VC2 cello has been hand-varnished with a coating of red-brown natural resin varnish.

Larsen Aurora strings

The Larsen Aurora cello string set is the ideal student string set. Enjoy the renowned quality of Larsen strings with an impressive response. The steel core creates a clear, articulate sound and the medium tension means the strings carry a stable pitch while offering you the versatility you need to create a fantastic sound on your cello. The alloy, nickel and tungsten windings create a smooth sound without any unwanted metallic overtones. What's more, the A and D strings are wound in a corrosion-resistant alloy, meaning they'll stay strong even after lots of use. In developing these strings, Larsen has remained true to their values of high quality and consistency.

Everything you need

Included with the Ideale VC2 cello is a lightweight transportation bag which has plenty of storage. For ease of use, the case includes backpack straps to ensure that commuting is never an issue. The bag can hold one bow, and even features a large accessory pocket - ideal for the included rosin.

Also included is a bow crafted from quality Bulletwood that is octagonally shaped for a comfortable grip when performing. Similar to more expensive bows, the bow features bright lapping, a comfortable thumb grip, and a three-piece looking end screw for a premium look. This bow also uses natural horsehair for the best possible sound and is suitable for any full-size cello.
