The Theo Wanne Earth 2 Alto Sax Mouthpiece with Liberty Lig gives you a huge, thick sound. Boasting a unique small chamber, flat side walls, and a long roll-over baffle, the Earth 2 offers versatile tones, with excellent expressive capabilities. The size-six mouthpiece has a tip opening of 0.076" - a little on the narrower side. This will give you a more locked-in, accurate intonation, with easier access to the higher registers - perfect for precise and technical playing. The 24k gold-plated construction gives the mouthpiece rich and vibrant overtones, whilst the unique chamber shape provides a strong core to the sound. For years, Theo Wanne refused to make anything other than the best mouthpieces money could buy - but they came with a big price tag. Realising that many musicians couldn't afford to use his mouthpieces, Theo resolved to produce a line of mouthpieces that met his perfectionist's standards - at a price that everyone could afford. This became the mantra of the ELEMENTS mouthpiece series.
About Theo Wanne
Theo Wanne is a modern expert on new and vintage woodwind mouthpiece design. Theo worked as a saxophone repair technician under the direction of master refacer Bob Carpenter - a pioneer of mouthpiece refacing and repairs. Theo soon gained a reputation within the saxophone world, and in 1998 opened Saxophone Mouthpiece Heaven - his own online music store and knowledge database.
In 2007, Theo started to design and manufacture his own line of mouthpieces en masse, working with famous musicians such as Joshua Redman, Chris Potter, and Eric Alexander. Theo is constantly studying and innovating his designs, ensuring his mouthpieces allow musicians to create their best tone - as easily as possible. Theo Wanne now has a reputation for crafting some of the best saxophone and clarinet mouthpieces, using the world's most advanced manufacturing techniques.
Included accessories
This Earth 2 Alto mouthpiece comes included with the excellent Theo Wanne Liberty Ligature. Attaching via the mounting holes, the ligature's only points of contact with the mouthpiece are on two very small points - giving the mouthpiece and reed freedom to vibrate undampened. Dial in your sound! Mount the ligature further up the mouthpiece for a tighter, more controlled sound; or further down the mouthpiece for a reedier, spread tone.
Also included is a Reed Replacer Cap - an incredibly secure mouthpiece cap which offers unmatched protection to the tip of your mouthpiece. The Earth 2 also comes with a mouthpiece pouch, to protect from scratches and other cosmetic damage when not in use.
