Extraordinary construction!
Similar to all other Theo Wanne products, the Mindi Abair alto sax mouthpiece is manufactured using the most advanced machining techniques. This ensures every mouthpiece is exactly the same. To achieve the raw tone that the Mindi Abair mouthpiece is known for, Theo designed a small proprietary chamber which is actually smaller than the bore. This produces a very powerful and narrow sound - perfect for rock 'n' roll!
Just like all of Theo Wanne's metal mouthpieces, the Mindi Abair mouthpiece is crafted from professional-grade brass. But then Theo does something wonderful to it... To achieve that scintillating aesthetic, the mouthpiece is finished with reticulated white bronze. Not only does this look fantastic, but it also enhances the airflow through the mouthpiece. As a personal touch, Mindi's signature is engraved in dark grey for a truly luxurious finish.
Tip openings for you
The tip size, or tip opening, is the distance between your reed and the tip of your mouthpiece. This affects the airflow from your mouth into your mouthpiece. You can choose whichever tip opening suits you the best, however often players who desire certain sounds will get particular openings.
The smaller tip sizes will generally be easier to blow through, however, this is usually at the sacrifice of expressivity. These are popular amongst students and classical musicians. Larger tip openings are more difficult to blow through but have greater projection and expressivity. These tend to be more popular with jazz and rock musicians.
