Crowning touches
The crown on your flute's headjoint acts as a plug on the end of your instrument, directing air, and therefore sound, past the keys. A well-fitted and nicely weighted crown can ensure that the air is directed in an even and efficient manner, making your flute more resonant and responsive. All Chanson flutes feature a heavy weighted engraved crown on the end of the instrument, ensuring that the instrument does perform as well as possible.
Hand finished embouchure
Trevor James understands the importance of having the smoothest edges to your embouchure holes. This is why the Chanson flutes have these holes shaped and cut by hand rather than by machine. A machine-cut embouchure hole, while functional, has inconsistencies in the smoothness of the edge which can affect the sound. Cutting by hand ensures extra attention to detail is given to each and every Trevor James flute.
Quality construction
The Chanson series flutes feature French-style pointed key arms. Key arms are the metal arms which attach the keys to the body of the flute. With the French style, the arm extends out to the centre of the key. The extra length to the key arms adds strength to the key mechanism. They also allow for more precise intonation and reward speedy playing. This will really allow you to improve on the flute without hitting any ceilings that you may encounter on lower-quality instruments.
This flute uses the same high-quality Italian pads that are seen on professional instruments. This means more secure seating is able to be achieved, allowing no air to escape and ensuring your tone is always fantastic. The other benefit of these pads is that they are more durable - lasting you longer and therefore meaning you have to have the pads replaced less often. This is often a huge cost so the less often this needs to be done, the better.
Triple plating
Trevor James has developed an innovative method of plating to achieve the best results and avoid the de-plating that is often associated with cheaper instruments. This technique uses three layers of plating. The first is a copper plating over the nickel body, then not one, but two layers of silver plating over the copper. The finish on this flute is solid, lasting a long time and not tarnishing as easily as cheaper finishes.
Everything you need
The Trevor James Chanson flute comes with all you need to get playing straight away. A microfibre cleaning cloth with internal cleaning cloth will help you keep your flute in top condition. The wooden case with fleece lined cover will help you keep your flute safe when not in use and the shoulder strap will help make it easy to carry you flute around with you.
