Exceptional Craftsmanship and Materials
The Westbury Intermediate Cello features a hand-carved maple and spruce body, providing a resonant sound and superb response that's perfect for students. These high-quality woods give each cello its unique character and optimal tone, while the beautiful spirit varnish offers an attractive appearance as well as lasting durability.
This cello features an ebony fingerboard, top nut, and tuning pegs, which offer significant advantages over other woods. Ebony's dense composition and durability make it less susceptible to wear and tear, ensuring smooth and precise tuning for an extended period. Its natural resistance to humidity and temperature changes also contributes to the wood’s longevity and reliability, providing a consistently excellent playing experience. Ebony is especially advantageous for the tuning pegs as well, for the pegs can hold tuning exceptionally well compared to other woods.
Larsen Aurora strings for exceptional tone
The Westbury Cello comes fitted with Larsen Aurora strings, known for their smooth and brilliant sound without any metallic overtones. These strings, with their high-quality solid steel core, offer durability and a consistent tonal quality that beginners will appreciate. Wound with a corrosion-resistant alloy, the A and D strings produce a bright and clear tone. The G string, wound in nickel, provides a warm, smooth sound while the tungsten-wound C string delivers a deep, resonant tone that’s suitable for the lowest strings. Available in medium tension, these strings are easy to play, making them a great choice for beginners who aren't yet familiar with different string tensions. With Aurora cello strings, beginners can enjoy excellent sound quality and a reliable, long-lasting set of strings that will support their musical journey.
Comprehensive Outfit for Beginners
The Westbury Cello comes as a complete outfit, supplying everything you need to start playing right away. To protect your new instrument, it includes a lightweight padded gig bag with 22mm of foam padding, offering excellent protection and easy transportation.
The included bulletwood bow, a more sustainable alternative to Brazilwood, features unbleached natural white horsehair for superior sound production. The bow also boasts a comfortable thumb rest and a fully mounted ebony frog with a Parisian eye. This ensures your bow lasts for many years and has a smooth tightening and slackening action.
