The Yamaha Custom YCL-CSVRA A Clarinet is a refined, expressive instrument from Yamaha's VR series of clarinets. This line represents Yamaha's desire to deliver a higher standard of clarinet, by adding innovative new ideas to their vast experience in classical woodwind instrument-making. In doing so they have produced a clarinet with a beautiful tone, rich, expressive capabilities throughout the dynamic range, and increased user comfort and playability.
A number of improved features - including a redesigned C#/G# key, thicker key plating, and an adjustable thumb-rest - have succeeded in elevating the quality of sound, and in making this an instrument that is comfortable to play for long sessions. Premium Grenadilla body construction gives the YCL-CSVRA a versatile, classic sound, whilst the silver-plated keyworks boast an effortlessly smooth action. Finished with an elegant 'R' logo engraved on the barrel, this is an instrument with an emphasis on refinement at every stage of the design process.

The classic straight shape of the barrel in the VR series gives a perfectly balanced response, whilst the traditional shape of the bell allows for excellent presence and a vintage, focused sound. The projection and presence afforded by these design choices make the YCL-CSVRA ideal for use both in ensembles and as a solo instrument, due to its excellent dynamic range and massive flexibility in tone.
Increased comfort and playability
When redesigning the VR series, Yamaha made the decision to lengthen the C#/G# key by 2mm, improving its touch and playability. Additionally, the adjustable thumb rest makes the clarinet suitable for a wider range of hand sizes, and an added strap ring allows players to distribute the weight of the instrument and relieve some of the strain of holding it. This is an instrument designed to be played for long sessions without discomfort.
Improved stability and expression
A rich, stable, and luxurious tone is created by Yamaha's use of thick key plating and durable leather pads. The thicker plating allows the clarinet highly expressive capabilities, especially at high volumes. Meanwhile, the leather pads deliver a rich tonal quality, and their expert set-up gives players a rapid, smooth action, and a buzz-free playing experience.

The YCL-CSVR comes with a custom Yamaha ebonite 4CM mouthpiece, as well as a silver-plated ligature and mouthpiece cap. A high-quality Yamaha double clarinet case is also included.
