The baritone sized horn is a vital addition to any brass ensemble. The large size produces swelling bass frequencies that add depth to your overall sound, as well as textured mids. The valve style playing means that, despite its large size, the baritone horn can be played by all musician’s inspired by it. The bell and bore of baritone horns are typically a similar size to trombones, offering a distinctively energetic sound. Baritone horns are ideal for musicians in wind and brass ensembles, but can be utilised as a solo instrument.
Design
Made from yellow brass, this horn has been of faithful service in bands for years. The cylindrical bore gives the baritone a typically bright sound, whilst retaining punchy bass frequencies. The hand-lapped valves and slides are a special feature of the YBH-621, ensuring a sealed fit on all slides. This provides a controlled and smooth air flow throughout the instrument. In turn, this gives improved intonation and response from the instrument. As well as this, the tubing used on the instrument is pressure formed, which offers less restriction for increased expression.
4th Valve
The Yamaha YBH-621 also comes with a 4th valve, which is a professional touch for the top end baritone horns. This not only makes tuning more controllable in the bottom register, but also makes technically demanding pieces easier to play.
Hard Moulded Case and Mouthpiece
The Yamaha YBH-621 comes with a hard case and carefully selected mouthpiece as standard. The case makes it easy to get the baritone to rehearsals and concerts alike through the design of the shoulder strap. The Yamaha 45C2 Mouthpiece has a smaller inner diameter but has a deep cup allowing for great access to the extreme ranges of notes with clean and articulate tone
