The Yamaha YBH831 Neo Baritone Horn combines innovative technology with traditional baritone features. Yamaha has made certain changes that aren't visibly noticeable, but that make a significant difference to the performance. For example, the new leadpipe design gives some playing resistance and natural resonance, and the comfort of the Neo baritone is enhanced by slim valve casings and a hand rest that sits parallel to the valves.

Original compensating system

Featuring a standard three-valve compensating tubing system found on top end baritones, the Neo baritone boasts an improved air control system. By allowing air to flow through the bypass tubes of valves pressed in conjunction with the third valve, intonation in the mid to low register is dramatically improved. Rather than feeling like you're battling against the instrument to play musically and accurately, the Neo baritone allows you more freedom, giving you the space to concentrate on music-making and adding colour.

New design elements

The large bell with a narrower taper results in a clear tone. This means that even in larger ensembles or brass bands, the sound of the baritone will blend without being lost, thus adding to the ensemble. The large bell compliments this by allowing the YBH831 to project easily. The leadpipe has been redesigned so it's not soldered to the bell to give the instrument a natural resonance. All of these elements work together to create a baritone with a balanced tone that's capable of multiple types of expression and dynamics.

Everything you need

Included with the horn is a hard moulded case, designed to offer maximum protection to the instrument while still being an ergonomic case with a slim design. A shoulder pad has also been included for ultimate ease when travelling. As well as the case, the Neo baritone comes with a Yamaha SL-48 small shank mouthpiece, allowing you to get playing straight away.
