The Yamaha YCR8335G Neo Bb Cornet, Gold Brass is Yamaha's finest cornet, designed specifically for use in high-level competitive brass bands. Yamaha collaborated with world-class cornet players such as international soloists Russell Gray and Phillip McCann in order to perfect a design that provides the dynamic range and openness of tone required to perform at the highest level.
Featuring a large bore size for a powerful, commanding tone, and a one-piece gold brass bell for a rich, dark, timbre, the YCR-8335G makes for a truly fantastic sounding instrument. A slick, clear-lacquered finish gives the cornet a classic look, and the hand-hammered one-piece bell blows freely with rich, wide-ranging colour. All Neo cornets are meticulously hand-crafted in Japan to ensure the highest quality of craftsmanship. Experience Japanese excellence with the cornet made by professional musicians, for professional musicians.

The Neo cornet was developed in close cooperation with internationally renowned artists Phillip McCann and Russell Gray. Mr. Gray has played as principal cornet in a number of successful brass bands across Britain, notably obtaining world number one ranking with the Leyland Brass Band. Mr. McCann is a highly regarded cornet player and conductor, and has been presented with The Iles Medal in recognition of his services to the brass band movement.
By involving pro players throughout the design and testing processes, and fusing traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology, Yamaha has created a cornet that ideally meets the musical requirements of British brass bands.
Carefully hand-made in Yamaha's Japanese workshop, the wide-bored construction offers a rich, characteristic sound with a much wider dynamic range and louder projection - and the beautiful clear lacquer finish gives the instrument a full, rich timbre. The one-piece bell has been hammered out by hand by expert craftsmen, to produce an instrument with a beautiful dark tonal quality, fantastic projection, and excellent blowing resistance. Gold brass is used for the leadpipe, connection tube, and main tuning slide, giving the cornet a rich, flexible sound and an excellent response in the higher register.
The Yamaha YCR-8335G features new pistons, caps, and buttons, crafted from durable Monel alloy. These new additions help to increase the model's lifespan as well as to improve the quality of sound and the playability. Hand-lapped pistons and slides ensure a perfect seal and help to achieve an improved response and intonation. Pressure-formed tubing guarantees perfectly rounded pipes, resulting in less turbulence and a smoother airflow - which allows for reduced resistance and easy access to higher registers.
The YCR-8335G comes included with a Yamaha CR16E mouthpiece, and a professional-quality Yamaha cornet case. The CR16E is one of Yamaha's best-selling cornet mouthpieces. Offering smooth attacks, secure control, and effortless playability, this is a perfect pairing for the Neo cornet. This outfit also includes a luxurious leather-bound cornet case - a stylish, sturdy design that is perfect for keeping your new instrument safe from the inevitable knocks and scrapes which face any musician on the move.
