The medium bored construction offers the same mellow, characteristic flugelhorn sound, with a wide dynamic range, and excellent projection - and the beautiful clear lacquer finish gives the instrument a full, rich timbre. The two-piece bell has been laser-welded for an almost seamless bell with continuous, even vibrations. All of this comes together to produce an instrument with a beautiful dark tonal quality, fantastic projection, and excellent blowing resistance.

The Yamaha YFH-631G features new pistons, caps, and buttons, crafted from durable Monel alloy. These new additions help to increase the model's lifespan as well as to improve the quality of sound and the playability. Hand-lapped pistons and slides ensure a perfect seal and help to achieve an improved response and intonation. Pressure-formed tubing guarantees perfectly rounded pipes, resulting in less turbulence and a smoother airflow - which allows for reduced resistance and easy access to higher registers.
