Get the best possible start to learning the trombone. The YSL356 Bb/F trombone is ideally suited for beginners and intermediate players thanks to Yamaha's high-quality material selection.
Constructed from gold brass, the Yamaha YSL356 is designed to help you progress as fast as possible. The dual bore slide on the YSL356 enables the trombone to play like a small bore trombone, and yet have the larger sound associated with medium bore instruments.
Included with the trombone is a moulded hard case and a small shank Yamaha 48 mouthpiece so you can start practising straight away.

The Yamaha YSL356 will give you the best possible start on the trombone. Boasting great intonation with a fantastic sound without a large price tag, the YSL356 will comfortably take you up to a grade 5 standard. Ideal for brass bands or orchestras, the Yamaha student trombone is perfectly suited for any brass ensemble.
The Yamaha YSL356 features everything you need to start learning the trombone. The 8'' bell combined with the dual bore produces a large tone without much air, making it ideal for younger children. The top slide measures .500'' and the second slide measures .525''. This feature enables the trombone to be lighter in weight and play similar to a small bore trombone, but can also achieve the large symphonic sound often associated with medium bore trombones.
Special attention has been given to the YSL356 so it has excellent balance while playing. All of these features combined with a resonant sound provides you with a solid start to learning and exploring the instrument.
Although this is student instrument, don't think that the quality has been compromised. A nickel silver slide not only prevents corrosion, but also creates a smooth surface that creates a fast action. The Yamaha YSL-356 features a gold brass bell which is the material of choice for orchestral brass musicians. The high copper content in gold brass allows for a much darker sound than yellow brass can achieve. Once the trombone has been made, it is finished in a bright gold lacquer to keep it looking newer for longer.
The closed wrap style of F tubing found on the Yamaha YSL-356 is the most widely played in the world. It involves two loops turned on themselves with bends in the air column pathway. Many trombonists prefer this style as it provides a more compact sound which also balances better than the open wrap style. The YSL-356 is made using similar manufacturing processes used when making the Yamaha 800 series - Yamaha's premium trombone series. These high-end features make the Yamaha YSL-356 ideal for anyone looking to upgrade their instrument to a more advanced model, while not paying a premium price tag.
Included with the Yamaha YSL356 trombone is a lightweight moulded case. This case offers tough protection for your instrument to ensure it stays in the best possible condition. The case also includes a shoulder strap and backpack straps for easy transportation between musical events. To ensure you get the best possible start at the trombone, the YSL356 includes Yamaha's most versatile mouthpiece - the Yamaha 48.
