The Yamaha YTR8335 features a reverse leadpipe, which improves the airflow and produces a clearer sound. Where a normal leadpipe has the tuning slide on the inside, the reserve leadpipe has the tuning slide on the outside. This means that there are no points where the bore size is suddenly shrunk, thus creating better airflow through the instrument.
Yamaha pride themselves on exceptional build quality. This is why experienced artisans in Japan handcraft Xeno trumpets to ensure they are perfect. Small details like adding a second stopper position for your third valve slide so you can choose between a bright or focused tone, to double bracing the main tuning slide for more structural integrity come together to produce the magnificent YTR8335.
The Yamaha YTR8335 Xeno trumpet features a 1st and 3rd slide thumb saddles with the addition of a double stopper on 3rd slide, so precise tuning can be achieved. The valves in the trumpet are crafted from monel, which is a nickel and copper alloy. Monel valves are found in all professional Yamaha trumpets as they are smooth, resistant to corrosion, and hardwearing. Once the YTR8335 has been constructed, it is finished in a bright silver plate to keep the instrument looking newer for longer.
When redesigning the new series of Xeno trumpets, Yamaha first spoke to some of the world's leading trumpet players. After carefully studying the information they had received, they concluded that three major objectives need to be achieved; to improve the dynamic response, produce a more centred presence, and to deliver a clearer tone.
To improve the dynamic response, Yamaha redesigned multiple aspects of the Xeno trumpet series. Firstly, they reduced the wall thickness of the valve block and included lightweight pistons. To optimise resistance, Yamaha also updated the piston port angle. Secondly, the knuckle bend angle and inner connection pieces have been updated to provides you with the perfect response while playing. Yamaha have even added new water-key springs to help boost the response. All these features assist in giving the Xeno trumpet a lighter feel with better control in all dynamics without losing its famed versatility.
To produce a trumpet with a more centred presence, Yamaha really started to think about the small details. The biggest difference is the new bell design and taper. This new bell design (YL3) with a slightly new taper contributes to the overall resistance and offers a powerful tonal core. The new bell also enhances playability in the upper register. To improve the overall tone of the new Xeno series, Yamaha decided to update the materials they use. Now made with a new compound of yellow brass, all new Yamaha Xeno trumpets have more copper in them than previous models. This new yellow brass compound contributes to a warmer yet clearer tone colour, enabling trumpet players from all genres to play a Yamaha Xeno trumpet.
The Xeno series draws together a map of craftsmanship that involves the design, advanced technology, and the dreams of honoured artists from all over the world. The trumpets in this series are here to inspire you with the incredible power and projection that they produce. Together with their redefined resistance and response, these trumpets have great tonal flexibility. Xeno trumpets continue to develop towards their artists' needs in order to be the ideal musical instruments on the market.
The Yamaha YTR8335 Xeno trumpet includes a Yamaha 16C4 mouthpiece, which is one of Yamaha's top-selling mouthpieces. It offers smooth attacks, secure control, and easy playability thanks to its perfect all-round design. As well as this, the Xeno includes one of Yamaha's famed double trumpet cases. Perfect for carrying either a Bb and C trumpet together, or a Bb and mutes, this double case will keep your instrument protected. This stylish case can be used either as a shoulder bag or backpack, and thanks to its compact size, can easily be taken a carry-on luggage.
