Since its introduction in the 1960s, lauan has been altered and improved to provide a throwback, vintage sound. Lauan comes from the lauan tree in Southeast Asia, and became infamous for making cheap drums with little to no credit. The reality of Lauan, however, is far from that of a cheap tonewood. It produces an immersive, warm response with a medium-short decay, sitting perfectly in the mix. And when paired with other vintage components, lauan shells offer a solid foundation for any rhythm section.

The votes are in, and the newly-elected premier of vintage drumming style and sound is... you. Aside from the immersive lauan wood shells, the President Deluxe's configuration plays a big part in its unmistakable sound. These 20", 14", 12" size shells are typically found in rock fusion-style set-ups. Perfect for driving rhythms, riotous drum fills, and capturing your audience's ears, as well as their eyes. That's if they can take them off the President Deluxe's understated, classic aesthetic, of course. With hardware features such as the imposing 'Battleship' lugs, and the heritage gullwing bass drum spurs, you'll be the picture of drumming opulence.
Refining your sound
Each drum in the President Deluxe Shell Pack comes fitted with a Remo CS 'Black Dot' UK head for great sounds straight from the box. For further refinements, a felt bass drum muffling strip is included for you to tweak your bass drum's response. You'll also make good use of the shells' internal mufflers, with each drum fitted with an adjustable unit for precise tonal control. Allowing you to achieve your personal drumming identity both in the studio and on the stage.
