The EarthQuaker Devices Hummingbird V4 Repeated Percussions Tremolo is a vintage sounding model based on the dark and dreamy sound of the old amplifier and tape units. This pedal has a sawtooth wave that replicates choppy-sounding tremolo effects. With the additional rate and depth controls, the Hummingbird can create everything from classic '50s shimmering tremolos through to synth-sounding, choppy effects that can turn into short 'pings' as you increase the rate control to its maximum. Also included is an enhanced control that lets you set the tremolo speed on-the-fly for enhanced creative potential.
The Hummingbird includes a Flexi Switch, enabling latching operation or momentary usage for 'stutter' effects or the ability to briefly highlight short parts of your playing. This EarthQuaker pedal recreates the vintage-style tremolo sound with a dark and murky tonality, alongside its choppy alteration. With this model, EarthQuaker aimed to reproduce the tremolo sound of tape devices, vintage amps, and oil-can units. And they did just that. The core tremolo sound is created from a sawtooth wave and the pedal has a simple yet powerful range of controls to tailor its sound.
Alongside its beautiful tremolo sound, you are also provided with a full control over the rate and depth. It comes equipped with three modes that lets you choose between slow, mid-tempo and fast speeds, while the Rate control lets you fine-tune the speed of the wave. The Rate can also be controlled with an external expression pedal, giving you a highly expressive performance option. The huge range of speeds lets you create every tremolo sound imaginable, from classic vintage shimmer sounds through to sharp and stutter synth sounds as you turn up the rate and depth.
Shape your sound to suit your style
This V4 can cut and boost your signal with the level control, allowing you to push your amp into increased saturation. With its flexi switch, you can operate the pedal in traditional latching mode, or in momentary mode. This allows this pedal to work like a usual guitar effects pedal on/off switch or can be used to create 'stutter' effects. Also featured is a true bypass output, which maintains the clarity of your signal when the pedal is disengaged. EarthQuaker Devices has upgraded this pedal with a soft-touch switch that enables silent and smooth switching for effortless operation on stage and in the studio.
