A classic - remastered. The Gibson Maestro Vibrola was born in 1963, the final year in which the Les Paul moniker appeared on SG Customs. This means SG Customs from this period are incredibly unique, with a special place in Gibson's history. This model follows the original to the letter, with the Les Paul Custom logo visible on the headstock. The same construction techniques and features have been used to create it - it's absolutely faithful to the 1963 model. As such, you can be sure it'll provide an authentic, unforgettable playing experience which simply cannot be imitated.
The power of three. Each of the Custombucker Alnico III humbuckers in this beauty will transport you to a universe of vintage tone. Whether you want spangly cleans or chunky crunch, you'll find notes explode out of these pickups with definition and clarity. The bridge position humbucker offers that classic rhythm tone which is perfect for a rich, full-bodied sound. Chords will shine, with each note springing to life. The middle humbucker offers a similarly classic tone, with slightly more warmth and balance.
Switch to the neck for some lead excitement. Also an Alnico III Custombucker, it helps your licks jump out with a fullness and fatness that'll leave your jaw wide open. Each note glows with pristine warmth and sustain, with the potential to scream when the gain is turned up. These humbuckers will take you on a sonic journey like no other, offering enough dynamism to invigorate all of your music.
It's a real showpiece. If you like vintage-style necks, you'll love this. Made from solid mahogany, it boasts a 1960 slim taper design, with the most luxurious feel you will ever experience. Your fretting hand will feel totally at home whilst wrapped around it, and you'll be able to play in complete comfort. The mahogany has a warm resonance which breathes into the strings and your overall tone, making each note sound full and flawless. Whether you're playing lead, rhythm, or both, you'll find each fret movement feels free and natural.
Coveted. Refined. Exceptional. Ebony is the premium wood for fretboards, providing every bit of smoothness and comfort you could wish for. The fretboard on the Custom 1963 Les Paul SG Custom stands out, though, as it has been crafted with the most exacting attention to detail. The smooth surface, the pristine pearl block inlays, the unbelievable sustain – this is a fretboard which will reward you time and time again. Its bright resonance helps to round off the warmth from the mahogany neck and body, further boosting this guitar's tremendous tone. You simply won't want to stop playing it.
It's more than a bridge. It's a piece of history. The Maestro Vibrola was one of the first tremolo systems to be used on Gibsons in the 1960s, and its quality has more than stood the test of time. The ABR-1 on this model lets you introduce some vibrant vibrato to your licks, whilst offering complete tuning stability. You'll find that it creates the full vintage tremolo experience, with a classic tremolo arm and plenty of visual appeal. Whether you want it subtle or wild, you'll have complete control over your vibrato. Add some serious flair to your riffs.
Classic design, modern standards. Each gleaming piece of hardware on this masterpiece is a shining example of Gibson Custom Shop quality. It has an aluminium tailpiece for increased string support as well as Grover Kidney tuners for unrivalled tuning stability. There's a classic white multi-ply pickguard to protect the pristine finish, and the hardware shines with a golden glint. Coming with a certificate of authenticity, historic reissue hang tags, and a Custom Shop Hardshell case, you'll never play another guitar like it.
