Paul Reed Smith and his head amp engineer Doug Sewell have been raking through an endless supply of vintage components, and even managed to study one of Hendrix's own amplifiers. The result is period correct configurations but with modern sensibilities.
Simply alter your pick attack on the HDRX 50 and be amazed by the liquid transition from clean resonance to a distorted bite, harking back to the amps of old. Achieve a vast array of sounds by experimenting with the three band EQ. Charge serious levels of gain without the vintage hassle of having to jumper each channel. Searing distorted waves mixes with light blues fuzz all the twisting of a few dials, and the HDRX 50 delivers this with crystal clear precision.
Voodoo child vibe
Vintage tube amps typically worked best at higher volumes, however the latest engineering from PRS ensures you can still get this tonal detail at the lower end, offering more flexibility with this fabulous amp head. This is particularly relevant for the three position "bright" switch that lets you emulate Hendrix's modified Woodstock amp, however, he would be blasting that amplifier at full volume - so PRS have made this exquisite voicing usable at more palatable noise levels!
