The Analogue Systems RS-100S is a 24dB/octave low-pass filter, basing its design on classic Moog-style ladder filters. The resulting sound is reminiscent of vintage-tones, capturing the essence of retro filter, retaining the desirable audio characteristics. It features a wide frequency range, allowing you to easily achieve the sound you desire. It employs low-noise transistors for optimal audio fidelity and performance, ensuring minimal distortion while retaining its natural harmonics. It is ideal for a range of sound design applications, from creating basslines to warping tones.
The RS-100S bases its design on the original RS-100, incorporating a range of enhancements and upgrades designed to improved audio performance. The ‘S’ version sees a range of improvements in design with reduced drift, improved distortion characteristics, lower noise and improved gain. The frequency range has also been improved from 40 Hz – 17khz to 10Hz – 35kHz (when external CVs are applied). It’s designed to emulate the response of classic filters from the early ‘70s. The result is a brighter top end and more defined low-end, with improved transients and stability. The transistors are matched and paired with the length of the ladder circuit, providing optimal balance and response at any frequency.
The sleek faceplate features five precision-style attenuators, including two main ones to control the frequency and voltage level of the module. Two signal inputs are included complete their own knobs, ranging from 1 – 5. There are also two cutoff CV inputs with one fixed at 1V octave and the other having variable control. Additionally, the module features a single audio output for communicating with external modules such as synths and other utility modules. The improved design results im optimal stability, guaranteeing optimised audio performance after one minute heating time, resulting a clean signal.
