Solid-State Inspired Sound

The Black Lion Audio B173 MKII Preamp bases its sound on classic solid-state preamps from the ‘70s and ‘80s. Internally, the B173 MKII Preamp boasts a Cinemag input transformer, as well as a an Edcore output transformer, capturing the essence of the vintage sound. The built-in 48V Phantom Power allows you to use a condenser microphone for studio-grade recordings. The result is warm yet gritty tones, ideal for vocal performances and high-level instruments. In addition, the B173 MKII also has a D.I Input for connecting instruments such as electric guitars and more, delivering warm yet gritty tones, rich in detail with an airy top-end.

Compact, Robust Design

The robust, all-metal construction only takes up a 1U half-rack unit, ideal for the space conscious studio engineer. The front-panel of the preamp includes a large 12-position rotary switch for input gain as well as a smaller rotary pot for the output level. Push buttons are included for Phantom Power as well as invert phase and select DI input. The bright blue LED light featured on the front-panel also indicates when the unit is switched on. As well as the DI input, the rear of the unit features an XLR input as well as a 1/4-inch output.
