The preamp section of the TG Channel MKII faithfully replicates the sound of the original, designed to improve the overall high-end frequency response. The EQ section provides Pultec-style control over the sound, and like a vintage unit, the sound is optimised just by passing through it. The recordings done with the original gear are still reference points for both musicians and engineers. Combining both the preamp and the equalizer, ensures the TG2 produces a high-level sound with exceptional clarity and warmth.
The active portions of the unit use the same discrete amplifiers and transformers as in the TG1 Limiter and TG2 pre amp. The passive equalizer portion of the EQ incorporates an all inductor design, offering an exceptional high frequency response with large and punchy lows, plus a high ''Q'' mid cut section. Designed to bring vintage analog warmth and performance, its sound is comparable to Pultec and Lang program EQs but made from TG circuits. A simple description would be a TG Pultec with a TG pre amp thrown in. The designed I based on the EMI TG12428, with the design utilised in Abbey Road’s mixing and mastering consoles from years past. Additionally the TG Channel MKII features built-in Phantom Power which allows you to capture studio-quality recording utilising a condenser microphone and the built-in XLR input.
The simply yet ergonomic layout of the Chandler TG2 ensures you can easily make changes to controls and parameters on the fly. The front panel includes a five parameter configuration featuring rotary dials for Hi Shelf, Mid Peak, Mid Cut, Lo Boost and Lo Cut for optimal control over your frequency bands and audio. Also included are 48V and Line switches located on the front-panel allowing you to switch Phantom Power on and off when using a condenser micropohone. Also featured is a DI/Mic switch which allows you to easily change between different inputs as well as an overall Line rotary control that adjusts the overall sound level of unit. Its military-grade design makes it highly durable and built to last, only taking up a single unit of space within your rack.
