The 1'' silk dome tweeter delivers impressive high-end response, delivering articulate highs whilst retaining the clarity and sparkle needed for the higher frequency range. The 2-way speaker system culminates in a transparent yet powerful output, perfect for mixing and mastering purposes.

Phase and frequency response controls

The ESI aktiv 05 also features a range of controls and connections to improve your monitors performance as well as connecting it to other devices such as audio interfaces. One of the most unique features on the speaker is the range of frequency response controls that can help you to isolate certain frequencies or eliminate others while mixing and mastering.

The treble attenuation adjustment control allows you to match your monitor your room's own acoustic requirements, allowing you to cater to the space you are working in for a better performance from the monitor. The bass roll off adjustment control allows you to match the monitor better to a subwoofer, allowing you to improve the performance of an entire system rather than just your monitor. Additionally there is the standard volume level which is controlled by a rotary knob on the rear of the monitor.

Versatile connectivity

The aktiv 05 features an XLR and TS 1/4'' combo connector with a balanced and unbalanced input. These inputs and outputs allow you to connect your speakers to an audio device such as a computer or an audio interface. The connections can also be used to link multiple monitors or subwoofers together to create a full system.

The ESI aktiv 10s is part of the aktiv range of monitors and subwoofers from ESI, providing you with compact yet powerful speakers that deliver exceptional audio quality and wide frequency ranges. The aktiv 10s is a 150W, 10 inch subwoofer unit designed to deliver a powerful yet articulated output, that will let you hear every characteristic of the bass range.

Most monitors deliver sufficient bass response but subwoofers are needed to provide a better image of the low frequencies in your mix, allowing you to tweak your levels and mix in accordance to the bass response. The subwoofer will work in both 2.1 or 5.1/7.1 surround sound productions, perfect for a range of musical applications from mixing home recordings and songs to film scores and more.

Versatile connectivity and phase control

The subwoofer features a range of controls and connections allowing you to get the best performance from your unit. The phase control function allows you to match the phase of the satellite cut off frequency to the phase of the upper frequency limit of the subwoofer. This allows you to get the maximum sound pressure and most accurate audio quality once you have set up. There is also a subwoofer crossover control and satellite crossover control, these controls allows you to adjust the crossover frequency for the output to satellites connected to the subwoofer for maximum performance and efficiency.

XLR inputs and outputs have been provided to connect other speakers to the subwoofer as well as other XLR based devices. There is also a foot switch connector which allows you connect a foot switch which can be used to mute the subwoofer sound. This is handy when you're mixing and want to compare the sound with and without the subwoofer on.
