LXP Hall
The original premium reverb solution, the ambience chamber, features a small to medium-sized area with highly reflective and irregular surfaces. Within this space, multiple microphones and speakers are strategically placed. The input signal is sent to the speakers and captured by the microphones, generating a rich and satisfying reverb effect. Numerous high-quality ambience chambers remain in use globally.
Key characteristics of the Hall algorithm involve rapid high-density reflections without noticeable wall echoes. This intricate micro-space effect mimics an ambience chamber at smaller settings, while larger settings create a small performance environment with a faster reflection density buildup compared to a concert hall. The randomized reverberant tails make the LXP Ambience algorithm an essential sound-shaping instrument.
LXP Chamber
The widely renowned Lexicon Chamber reverb algorithm is frequently chosen by live sound and recording engineers because of its extraordinary ability to recreate the musical atmosphere of a spacious, expansive, and breathtakingly panoramic setting.
Chambers are primarily designed for classical performances but have proven to be versatile for all music genres. These venues are relatively large, with distances between walls typically spanning several tens of meters. Smaller auditoriums cater to more intimate ensembles. The distinct acoustics of an auditorium include minimal initial reflection density and limited reflection energy before 60–100 milliseconds. Density buildup is more gradual due to the increased distances between reflective surfaces. The reverberation time is slightly longer, and lower frequencies tend to reverberate longer than higher frequencies.
This algorithm maintains these fundamental characteristics while offering a smoother and more even decay. With its reduced initial density, the LXP Auditorium is an ideal choice when subtle reverberation is desired.
LXP Plate
A Platter reverb consists of a sizable, slender metal sheet held upright under tension using springs. Transducers connected to the platter transmit a signal that causes the metal sheet to vibrate, simulating sounds in an expansive, open environment.
The LXP Platter algorithm replicates the audio characteristics of platter reverberators, featuring high initial diffusion and a relatively vivid, tinted sound. As a result, they are well-suited for percussion instruments. These reverbs are intended to blend seamlessly with the music, enriching and thickening the original sound. The Platter effect is commonly linked with the term reverb and is applicable to all popular music genres.
LXP Room
The LXP Room algorithm shares similarities with the Hall algorithm, but it's specifically designed for more compact areas and reduced reverb durations. In this algorithm, the "Size" parameter plays a crucial role. It not only influences the overall reverberation time but also determines the texture of the reverb. Larger sizes may result in more noticeable individual reflections, while smaller sizes create a smoother effect.
LXP Space is highly efficient for two primary studio applications: Post-production: Compact rooms, dialogue replacement, foley, outdoor settings and Music and broadcast: Voice-over booths, drum chambers, various dim and luminous small rooms, and basic effects.
