The MXL 606 Small Diaphragm Condenser Instrument Microphone is a compact and high-fidelity microphone that's ideal for capturing drums, vocals, guitars and pianos. Designed for flexibility, the MXL 606 boasts a neutral frequency response with powerful lows, smooth mids and detailed highs to capture virtually any sound source you throw at it.
Featuring a cardioid polar pattern, the MXL 606 is ideal for both on-stage and in-studio use. Excellent off-axis rejection from the cardioid pattern allows you to effectively eliminate any outside interference from other instruments on stage. Coupled with the compact design, you can fine-tune your microphone positioning on even the smallest of stages without getting in the way of your artists.
Onboard controls are supplied to help you customise your MXL 606 to the sound source you're recording. A high-pass filter lets you cut out any unruly low-end for a cleaner signal, while a -20dB pad attenuates input gain for any loud sound sources such as acoustic drums.

The MXL's transformerless design ensures that it can capture the transient response of your sound source with immense detail, meaning percussive elements such as drums will be recorded with plenty of attack and punch through the 606.
The compact design of the MXL 606 coupled with the highly directional cardioid polar pattern makes it the ideal microphone for on-stage. Excellent for large groups such as choirs and ensembles, you can position the microphone discretely without intrusion to the performers all the while capturing the sound with immaculate detail and stunning fidelity.
