The golden standard
Released in 1978, the JUPITER-4 was Roland’s first polyphonic synthesizer and the first to carry the JUPITER name. With the JUPITER-4 Software Synthesizer, the authentic sound of this trendsetting icon is now available as a computer-based plug-in and a PLUG-OUT for the SYSTEM-8 synthesizer keyboard. Boasting cutting-edge innovation and best-in-class design, the Jupiter-4 brought digital voltage control and user-storable presets. Technologically brilliant and sonically immaculate, the beautiful, mystical tones the Jupiter-4 was capable of were monumental in emerging styles of synth-pop in the late '70s and early '80s.
Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB)
Using innovative ACB modelling technology, the Roland Cloud Jupiter-4 Virtual Instrument is brought to life. Capturing every detail, nuance and interaction between hardware components with a piece-by-piece analysis, the Jupiter-4 Virtual Instrument is the most authentic emulation to date. Revered by so many, the sound and response of the Jupiter-4 Virtual Instrument are indistinguishable from the hardware counterpart. Buzzing with character, all the instabilities and quirks of the hardware have been captured to deliver the signature roaring, expansive and tonal uniqueness of the '70s classic.
Otherworldly tones
Appropriately named, the Jupiter-4 Virtual Instrument injects the sounds of vintage '70s tones into your productions. The biggest planet in our solar system can be the only name for this monstrous-sounding synthesizer. Powered by a single VCO, the combination of extended oscillator, smooth and defined analog filters and tempo-sync LFO create an amalgamation of thick, warm tones. Revolutionary for the time, the ethereal sounds of the Jupiter-4 are enhanced with the inclusion of the luscious Ensemble chorus, expertly modelled with ACB technology to take your sound into outer space.
Supersonic. Compuphonic.
Released in 1978, production has moved on slightly from the original design of the Jupiter-4. Because of this, implementations were made in the Roland Cloud Jupiter-4 Virtual Instrument to inject new life and flexibility into this revered studio classic. Extended oscillator range lets you dial in your tones to a wider range of frequencies, alongside an adjustable noise level for added character and harmonics, velocity sensitivity for expressive performances and a new and improved flexible arpeggiator. Now that you have perfected your sound with deeper editing and parameter adjusting, the Jupiter-4 Virtual Instrument employs a slew of newly introduced effects including phaser, flanger, overdrive, reverb and delay.
Under the hood power
Unlike vintage synthesizers, with the Roland Cloud Jupiter-4 Virtual Instrument, you will never run the risk of accidentally damaging a rare and expensive synthesizer. The onboard Circuit Mod feature lets you dive into the inner workings of the synthesizer and adjust internal trim pots, drifting parameters out of spec or back where they belong. This powerful feature offers you the chance to create a customised version of the Jupiter-4 synth that nobody else has, carving a sonic signature for you and your productions. Realised through the proprietary ACB modelling, this can all be controlled with a single macro control in conjunction with the Condition parameter to simulate the effect of ageing on a component. Dial-in everything from fresh-out-the-box rigidity to road-worn instability with the turn of a single dial.
Vintage design, modern sensibilities
Although modelling a vintage Roland instrument, the Jupiter-4 Virtual Instrument has been approached with a modern eye for functionality and flexibility. Modern appointments run through the design of the Jupiter-4 Virtual Instrument with the inclusion of added functionality of the LFO, arpeggiator and onboard effects for creative expression. Tempo-syncable with support across multiple formats, the power of the modern DAW is used to harness the sounds and character of classic Roland for an unforgettable sonic experience.
Hardware integration
The Roland Jupiter-4 Virtual Instrument is also compatible as a Plug-out that can be hosted in a range of Roland hardware like the System-8. This seamless integration opens up a whole new world of available options and potential with your Jupiter-4 Virtual Instrument. Transfer sounds back and forth between the hardware and the software to carry your sounds with you anywhere you go and update your presets on the fly. Hands-on interaction of any automation parameters will let you produce without ever needing to touch a computer. Due to the rarity of vintage synthesizers, the Jupiter-4 Virtual Instrument is the ultimate companion for touring musicians looking for the classic Roland sound in an affordable and portable package.
