The centrepiece of your studio
From studio to the stage, the Hapax sequencer provides powerful standalone sequencing combining elements of classic gear and modern innovation. Acting as the centrepiece to any setup, the Hapax can be used to sequence and synchronise all your favourite audio gear. Featuring dual-processor architecture, the Hapax can process and record a massive amount of data without any glitches. Offering 16 tracks per projects and 8 patterns per track, you can utilise up to a million notes and events for complex sequencing capabilities. You can also capture high-resolution recordings thanks, with a dedicated ‘record’ button. This includes the ability to record external MIDI instruments, as well as MPE controllers as well as analog signals
The first hardware sequencer with MIDI polyphonic expression
Express yourself like never before thanks to the Hapax providing full support for MIDI polyphonic expression – the first hardware sequencer to include this! Providing support for gestures, slides and articulations you can now take your sequences to the next level. The ergonomic design and intuitive controls allow you to program your sequences and patterns with ease. The backlit pads allow you to see your steps, even in low-light environments. Dual displays provide instant visual feedback with access to settings and advanced parameters at your fingertips.
Optimised workflow with intuitive composition tools
Composing is made easier than ever thanks to the wide range of composition tools on hand. You can craft a melody using a polyphonic/MPE track and use it in conjunction with the advanced step sequencer to take your creations to the next level. This allows you to input notes or edit live recordings on the fly, allowing your inspiration to guide your process. You can also control up to eight different instruments via a single track for multi-layered compositions. Creating rhythms and drum patterns is made easy with the advanced drum sequencing capabilities.
Cutting-edge algorithms allow you to generate/transform notes by inverting harmonics, generating counter melodies and control the velocities of each note. Different recording modes allow you to cater to your own style with options for punch-in mode, looper-style recording, count-in mode and more.
There are also a range of tools geared towards live performance and experimentation. For instance, ‘Time elasticity’ allow you to change the playback speed of your sequences/compositions. This makes it easy to slow down or speed up your track for some interesting results. Fluid editing options allow you to quickly undo/redo steps with dedicated buttons at hand. There is also a ‘snapshot’ function which allows you to save the current pattern’s state and recall it with a single press. Other dedicated buttons include copy, paste and delete. You can also create chords with ease using the fast and intuitive chord-building tools. Chord live mode allows you to create chords without a whole host of musical knowledge.
Real-time MIDI effects
Get creative with your sequences and add some texture to your sounds. Hapax features a range of real-time, polyphonic (and non-destructive) MIDI effects which you can use to sculpt/shape and sequencer your sounds. Onboard filters are perfect for shaping different sounds and there is also a harmony effect for creating huge soundscapes. Assignable LFOs are perfect for creating movement and the comprehensive modulation matrix allows you to get in-depth with your sound design. There is even a ‘chance’ mode which helps to randomise note lengths and more, leaving your sequencing choices up to the gods.
Robust and lightweight with versatile connectivity
Lightweight, robust and portable; the Hapax is the ultimate standalone sequencer, built from the ground up using the finest components. At the heart of the Hapax is 128 RGB matrix pads accompanied by 9 sturdy clickable encoders. It also features dual OLED greyscale displays for navigating between settings and parameters. You can even work on two, separate and independent projects and play them at the same time.
The rear of the sequencer features a myriad of analog and digital connectivity including MIDI I/O (DIN +TRS) as well as two CV inputs [-5V to +5V] (16bit) for use with outboard synthesizers. You can also host or link to a controller/computer using the bidirectional USB connectivity. You can also save your projects directly to an SD card. The Hapax is constructed from machined aluminium with unibody ABS for maximum durability.
