Key Features
Unique and contemporary design. The Wood Katana Sabre gets its deluxe pink panther burst finish from a meticulous building process. With a distinct body shape and semi-hollow body design, the Katana Sabre produces a resonant sound with a dynamic tonal range.
Now with five strings, the Katana Sabre is ideal for those who need the extended lower range. You won't be weighted down by the Wood Katana Sabre. Unlike other electric violins, the Katana Sabre is incredibly lightweight due to having any extraneous electronics removed. This means you can focus on the music - which is delivered by the high-quality Tru-Tone pickups.
Although the Katana Sabre can be played without the aid of electronics, we recommend using an amp for the best possible sound. Included with the Wood Katana Sabre is a quality fitted case to protect your violin when not in use. It's all of these details that add up to create an electric violin like you've never seen before.

By combining a unique design with a range of practical features, Wood has made the Katana Sabre accessible for any standard of player. All Katana Sabre violins start as a piece of poplar wood and are cut depending on your configuration. The double cut body is inspired by popular guitars and is carefully shaped to offer superior comfort.
The Katana violin features a semi-hollow body that produces a full resonant sound. The centre-block prevents feedback from becoming an issue, even when using high gain amps, and are ideally suited for the modern live musician. For a more traditional feel, this model has a regular shaped fingerboard. Constructed from specially selected ebony, the fingerboard is shaped to match modern orchestral standards. For an added touch of luxury, the Katana Sabre includes Witter finetune pegs to ensure tuning is never an issue.
The Katana Sabre offers a smooth transition for guitarists and violinists alike. The body shape has been designed to offer both types of musician a natural feel. The compact body is also convenient for gigging. The chinrest can be used as a comfortable armrest when in the guitar position, while the modern style neck allows you to scale the fingerboard easily. The Katana Sabre responds well to drive, chorus and delay pedals.
The Tru-Tone pickup is known for defining the electric violin sound. Perfectly suited for live environments, the Tru-Tone pickups have a high output signal which is ideal for guitar amps. The frequency balance focuses on high-end clarity, while tightening the midrange for a stable, more natural sound. The Tru-Tone pickups are a passive system, making them ideal for live use as they don’t require batteries. The pickup is placed discreetly under the bridge for a clear signal transfer that registers the violin’s body resonance.
Included with the Katana Sabre is a lightweight fitted case to protect your violin when not in use. The exterior of the case is lined with an unassuming black cover, and features a large pocket which is ideal for accessories. The case is sealed with a robust zip, and for added protection has a velcro strap. Capable of carrying up to two bows, the interior of the case also features a smaller pocket for even more accessories.
