The YTR-8335LA is the result of a partnership between Yamaha and famed West Coast musician Wayne Bergeron. Mr. Bergeron is one of the most in-demand studio musicians in Los Angeles, with credits on over 450 TV & motion picture soundtracks. Renowned for his amazing upper register abilities, he has played with some of LA's best bands, and has featured on the recordings of an incredible list of jazz and pop artists, from Burt Bacharach to Beyoncé.
His genre-spanning career means he sought a trumpet with true versatility, something he could play in both orchestral and big band settings, delivering screaming, high lead lines or low, honeyed melodies. Mr. Bergeron's unique input, paired with the knowhow of Yamaha's best brass engineers, has resulted in a versatile, top-class trumpet.
Modified leadpipe and bell shape
The leadpipe has been tapered to allow for higher air capacity, which aids a wider dynamic range for the player. This design also gives a quicker, more controlled response, allowing more precise traversal of complex passages. The new bell design gives the YTR8335LA better projection - improving its capabilities as a lead trumpet in large ensembles - and provides a brilliant and complex sound.
Perfect playing resistance
By balancing the blowing resistance of the instrument, Yamaha have given the YTR8335LA excellent control in the upper registers. The large bore tuning slide contributes to this balance, as well as providing a more open feel for performers. All brass valve casings also help with the balance of the instrument, as well as altering the tone, lending more overtones for a richer timbre.
