The Epiphone Allen Woody Bass is powered by a pair of NYT Mini Humbucker Bass pickups, which are located at the middle and neck positions. These are able to achieve bright and clear tones with excellent focus to create a classically vintage performance. The controls on-board the Allen Woody Rumblekat include a volume knob for each pickup and a master tone. The controls are finished in classy gold, and they are sat on a labelled tortoise-shell style plate to add to the retro appearance.
The chambered mahogany body gives this signature bass a warm and resonant tone with great sustain, as well as plenty of depth. It delivers good levels of grind and bite, which works exceptionally well with heavier styles of music such as rock. It also provides durability, and a tone that will mature over the years for a long-lasting investment. The mahogany has been topped with maple, extending the mahogany's tonal range with enhanced brightness and sustain as well as offering stunning aesthetics.
Its neck has also been sculpted from a beautiful mahogany, which is sturdy and provides good durability. It gives the guitar a richer focus, with warm and full undertones. It has been coupled with an equally warm pau ferro fingerboard, ideal for creating articulate tones that are soft yet punchy.
Allen Woody is recognised as a legendary rock bassist who has left a lasting legacy that is present within the design and sound of the Signature Rumblekat bass. Woody himself worked at Gibson Customer Services back in his younger days, and during his time there he joined American rock band The Allman Brothers in 1989. As a keen collector, Allen Woody took inspiration from other new Epiphones in order to design his very own signature Rumblekat bass.
