The mechanism for the octave key on Yamaha baritones has been the result of painstaking design and manufacture. In order to create seamless and controlled jumps between the registers of the instrument, a special mechanism has been used, which doesn't dramatically alter the timbre of the instrument. As well as this, the intonation is also carefully considered to create a more in tune higher register.
