Key Features
The Yamaha Tenor Venova YVS 140 Wind Instrument offers you the rich, deep tone of a tenor saxophone, with the simple playability of a recorder. Perfect for beginners and experienced musicians alike, this unique-looking instrument offers a great introduction to woodwind instruments for total novices, or a breath of fresh air and inspiration for veteran sax players.
Just like a saxophone, the Venova is a highly expressive single-reed instrument capable of achieving subtle nuances and inflections depending on the way the player blows. Tuned in the key of C, and with a range of two octaves, this is a great instrument for bringing along to jam sessions and getting stuck right in, and its modern styling and luscious sound are sure to turn heads!

The YVS 140 has a sturdy ABS resin body, which requires very little maintenance and can be properly cleaned using just water. The lightweight construction is incredibly resilient and portable, so it's perfect for younger players and musicians on the move. The body can be separated into its upper and lower sections, allowing for easier cleaning and a compact footprint for easy transport. And the YVS 140 comes included with a handy case, perfect for travel.
Intelligent design choices have enabled Yamaha to create the sound of a tenor saxophone with a compact instrument. A meandering pipe is used to decrease the distance between the tone holes, giving a much simpler structure which minimises the use of keys. And a "branched pipe" added to the cylindrical bore creates the tone of a conical-bore instrument in a much smaller design. The Venova comes with the "Let's Play Venova!" guidebook, which gives you all the advice you need to start playing some songs - so even if you're completely new to wind instruments you'll be up and running in no time.
