Key Features
The Yamaha YHR871D Professional Series Double French Horn Detachable Bell offers exceptional clarity and depth of sound. This makes it ideal for professionals and advanced students wanting to experience the best horn tone. Utilising the much sought-after YHR-861 and legendary Yamaha manufacturing consistency as benchmarks, Yamaha enlisted top artists from major symphony orchestras around the world to help them build a horn that will satisfy all players. As a result, the YHR871 is designed to help players achieve their ultimate goal of expression and artistry.
Blending traditional designs - such as the Geyer wrap style - and innovative features like the gold brass leadpipe design, this instrument has an excellent response and beautiful sound. The inner tubes of the tuning slides are made of gold brass and the main tuning slide has a rounded shape - creating the ideal amount of blowing resistance, resulting in a clear, centred sound.

Yamaha has designed the YHR871D around a developed tone and easy playability. An example of this includes the Bb 2nd valve slide, which benefits from a long pull ring for convenient use, so you can take out the slide mid-performance. The fourth rotor thumb lever and pinky hook can be manually adjusted to each player's preference for a more comfortable playing position. The engraved valve caps enhance the response and provide improved grip - as well as beautiful looks!
The recognisable tone of the YHR871D is derived from quality craftsmanship and premium materials. The Geyer style wrap has a rim wire that's thicker than standard horns, producing a deep and resonant tone with a range of overtones. The inner tubes of the tuning slides are made of gold brass to further emphasise this horn's depth of tone. The main tuning slide also has a rounded shape to provide some blowing resistance to create a centred, focused sound.
Yamaha is widely renowned for its exceptional quality control. The YHR871D continues this quality. The yellow brass body and nickel silver valve casing not only offer a high-quality sound, but are also robust enough to last for years to come. The joints between all components are built with precision, so your horn is always producing the cleanest sound possible. The buttons are fixed with stable hinges that retain their dependability over time, making your performance as expressive as your technique.
The YHR871D comes with a Yamaha 32C4 Mouthpiece which helps the performer to experience the full range with a warm and satisfying tone. A hard but lightweight moulded case is also included with this instrument - making transportation of the horn between gigs and rehearsals much easier.
